iDeal, an Uzbek property-rental startup, has presented a platform that lets people looking for a flat in Tashkent deal with landlords directly, the company said in a post published by UzCombinator. The startup describes the product as a digital service for renters, landlords and management companies.
The company said iDeal was founded by three people aged 21 to 22 who had worked as realtors before. According to the post, the team chose an asset-light model instead of one that carries capital risk.
What the platform does
Renters on iDeal can unlock contact details only for verified landlords and receive instant alerts about new listings, the company said. Both sides review and score each other, and the startup says poorly rated tenants and irresponsible landlords are filtered out automatically.
For landlords, the platform offers a booking calendar, automatic billing, utility monitoring and online contracts, covering both daily and long-term rentals.
The company listed the problems it is aimed at. In Tashkent, it said, renters pay commissions of 50% to intermediaries and spend days sorting through fake listings, while landlords lose 15 to 25 days of rent each time a tenant changes and carry the risk of damage to a property worth around $70,000. Contracts, tenant ID details and utility meter readings are also scattered between folders, Telegram chats and notebooks, according to the post.
