Editorial policy

How Tokhum finds, writes, checks and corrects startup news.

What we publish

Tokhum reports startup news from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan: funding rounds, launches, acquisitions, accelerator programmes, founders and ecosystem data.

We publish facts that can be traced to a source. We do not publish rumours, paid placements disguised as news, or opinion presented as fact.

Sources and verification

We monitor news sites, official announcements, company channels, founder posts, podcasts and videos. Every article lists and links the sources it is based on.

A fact that comes from a single company post is attributed to that company. Numbers are kept in the currency the source uses and are never converted.

How we use AI

Articles are drafted by AI (shown as “Tokhum AI” in the byline). The AI extracts facts from the sources and writes an original text in English, then translates it into Azerbaijani, Russian and Uzbek. It never copies source text.

No article is published without a human decision. An editor reviews every draft, its sources and any claims the system marks as uncertain, and only then approves it. The approving editor is named in the byline. Cover images are AI-generated illustrations and are labelled as such.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it. Write to hello@tokhum.com or use the “Send us a story” form with the article link and what is wrong.

We check every request. A factual correction is made in the article and its date of update is shown. If a story turns out to be wrong as a whole, we take it down.

Independence and ownership

Tokhum is a media project of the Parvaz startup studio (parv.az). We carry no advertising. If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be clearly labelled.

When a story involves a Parvaz company, we say so in the article.
